We opened our doors in November 1999, we were planning to sell mostly model railway stock and so we called the shop Deltic Models.
However, even before we were open and were fitting the shop out, we had so much interest from people stopping by asking if we sold various items, we had to broaden our range immediately and by Christmas we had a Plastic Model Kit and a Radio Control department.
By 2004 we had so much stock we needed to expand into another floor at the old chapel and renamed the shop as ModelActive as our range was so much more than trains.
Our last change came in 2013 when we became the North East Model Centre and since then have grown even more.
We have always been modellers, growing up building kits, taking huge battery powered boats to the boating lake and scratch building railway layouts.
We loved the anticipation of going to the local model shop and looking for the latest things just in and thats the feeling we want to give our customers too.
We know what it’s like when you are immersed in a project and need materials fast.
We aim to keep the best ranges in stock. We don’t just want to offer you one type of paint, we want to give you the widest selection possible.
We are always on the look out to extend our range so tell us if you know of a product that we have missed.
With regular deliveries, we keep our shelves stocked with good levels to keep your modelling project on track.
Basics like glue, paint plastic and balsa are important and we know it.
