  • Games Workshop

Games Workshop is a British company based in Nottingham which produces miniature war games.

In fact, their history traces all the way back to 1975. At first, they started out producing traditional board games like Backgammon and Nine Men’s Morris. Then, they became an importer of Dungeons and Dragons – the famous role-playing game from the USA. Finally, they began publishing their own original wargames and role-playing games that are much loved today.

However, they are more than games – it is a hobby! Warriors, weaponry, vehicles etc will first need to be built. They also all come as blank canvases to paint and customise. Use the acrylic Citadel Paints to personalise your collection. You can choose to follow the colour suggestions or paint them in a fashion completely unique to you!

There are many Games Workshop resources to utilise, as well as a big community both online and offline.

What’s more, they publish a monthly magazine called White Dwarf. Keep up to date with all the latest Games Workshop news and products, and also learn new methods to hone your Warhammer skills!

There are three core games to choose from. Each is set in its own universe. They each have their own backstories, weapons, warriors etc. The three main games are…

    Warhammer 40,000

The most popular miniature game in the entire world. The Warhammer 40,000 universe is in a far distant future. There, aliens and supernatural creatures make life very difficult for human civilisation which finds itself on the brink of collapse. Fight battles with futuristic weaponry and magical powers. Black Library have published numerous novels, fictionalising this dystopian society.

    Warhammer Age of Sigmar

This universe’s setting is in the ‘Mortal Realms’. Here you will find a mixture on medieval style weaponry alongside magical spells. It is a fantasy world in which you find warriors such as humans, elves, dwarves, and orks.

    Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game

A universe based on the books by JRR Tolkein and the subsequent film adaptations – The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
