The M4 Sherman is based on the chassis and many other elements of the former model M3 Lee – an American tank produced during World War II. It was in service from 1942 to 1957 in the US.
American Civil War general William Tecumseh Sherman was the namesake of the tank. The British were the ones to bestow this name.
It was a Medium Tank: a compromise between light and heavy tanks. The focus of light tanks was mobility, whereas the focus of heavy tanks was armament.
The M4 Sherman proved to be reliable, relatively cheap to produce, and available in great numbers. Therefore unsurprisingly, the most widely used medium tank by the US and Western Allies in World War II and many infantry divisions were provided with M4s and tank destroyers. In total, nearly 50,000 would be built.
A M3 75mm calibre cannon armed it and it weighed over 30 tonnes. It’s travel range was between 100 and 150 miles and it could travel at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. It had a crew of 5 men.
The Army had 7 main sub-designations for M4 variants during production: M4A1, M4A2, M4A3, M4A4, M4A5, and M4A6. But, a higher number did not indicate improvement. Instead, these sub-types indicated standardised production variations.
After World War II, the Sherman, particularly the many improved and upgraded versions, continued to see combat service in many conflicts around the world.
This newly revised miniature vehicle made with construction blocks by COBI has many movable parts such as opening hatches, moving machine guns, spinning wheels and tracks. What’s more, the tank’s tower and a barrel can be lowered and lifted. The rear armor is inserted inside, you can open it, see it and also see the engine. Indeed, it is a very solid construction that truly reflects its original historical shape.
The model of the Sherman M4 tank is a great toy, but also a special piece of every collector of military and armor weapons and video game World of Tanks. The set includes a tank top and a sticker sheet with symbols and military markings. In fact, the vehicle is improved version of the bestselling model with the number (3007). It includes new shapes and construction solutions, including: a smaller construction, a completely new construction, as well as a new rear armor reconstruction (edition February 2019).
The model released for the World of Tanks license includes a special invitation code: 7 days Premium Account, T2 Premium Light Tank, 500 gold, Garage spot, and bonus code: 3 days Premium Account, Large Repair Kit, Case of Cola.
