    Model Details

The kit was created in collaboration between Das Werk and TAKOM.

The model is based on TAKOM’s popular model, but has no interior. This makes the model for everyone who wants to have fun with a detailed model of this tank, while the interior of the vehicle is not relevant to them.

The Zimmerit is already moulded on the hull and turret and two marking options are included.

    History

Nazi Germany used the Tiger II during the Second World War.

The final official German designation was ‘Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausf. B’ in which the word ‘Panzer’ translates to ‘armour’, ‘Kampf’ translates to ‘fight/struggle’ and ‘Wagen’ is a vehicle – literally ‘armoured fighting vehicle’.

Its ordnance inventory designation was Sd.Kfz.182 which is a shortened version of ‘Sonderkraftfahrzeug’ 182 which translates to a ‘special purpose vehicle’ in German.

It was a Heavy Tank, which meant it focused on armour protection and firepower. However, this came at a sacrifice of maneuverability.

The tank weighed almost 70 tonnes, 100 to 185 mm of armour protected it to the front. Moreover, the long barrelled 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 anti-tank cannon armed it.

It was in service between 1944 and 1945. The Battle of Normandy is where it first saw combat. They also played a crucial role in the taking Budapest.

In total, the Nazis produced 492 Tiger II tanks.
